I first moved to this farm in February of 1969 with a three-year-old by my side, a nine-month-old on my hip, and another on the way. The farmhouse didn't have a bathroom, and we had to heat it with wood—which, at the time, we didn't have. In the barn, 100 sheep were ready to have their lambs, and 30 acres of asparagus were almost ready to be picked and sold. I remember my mother visiting for the first time with wide eyes, exclaiming, "Oh Patty - what did you do?" 

The farm became a true labor of love as the years went by. When my daughters were nine and ten, they decided to add goats to our farm, and we've had goats ever since. The animals, the land, and the changing seasons have become a part of our family's story.
In 1978, I earned a BA in Art, and during that time, I also learned upholstery, chair covering, and restoring. Years later, after my son tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident, I turned to silversmithing as a way to heal and express my creativity.

These days, I grow dahlias and sell bouquets to help support the farm, and after a divorce, I decided to open the bed and breakfast. It's been a journey filled with ups and downs, and at times, I look in the mirror and ask, "Oh Patty - what did you do?" - but it's all been worth it because this farm is my heart and soul.
